GUNDAM BASE, Japan's official Gunpla flagship store for the "Mobile Suit Gundam" franchise, has announced its latest limited-edition product from the theatrical anime "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM." The "RG 1/144 Akatsuki Gundam (Oowashi Pack) & HG 1/144 Zeus Silhouette + Custom Joint Parts Set" is scheduled for release starting August 8, 2026, at various GUNDAM BASE locations.
The ORB-01 Akatsuki Gundam is the flagship Mobile Suit of the Orb military, constructed by the Orb national enterprise "Morgenroete." Designed using data from the GAT-X105 Strike Gundam, its silhouette bears a striking resemblance, and it similarly employs a backpack exchange system akin to the "Striker Pack." This allows it to swap between the "Oowashi Pack" for atmospheric combat and the "Shiranui Pack" for space. In the "SEED FREEDOM" movie, the Akatsuki Gundam returned to the battlefield equipped with the new enhanced armament, the "Zeus Silhouette," and successfully utilized its "Yata-no-Kagami" mirror armor to halt the "Requiem" orbital interception all-directional strategic cannon from firing on the Orb capital.
This special product bundles two previously released items: the "RG 1/144 Akatsuki Gundam (Oowashi Pack)" and the "HG 1/144 Zeus Silhouette + Custom Joint Parts Set." Additionally, it includes a newly sculpted hip joint reinforcement part. This new component is designed to enhance the hip joint's strength when the "Zeus Silhouette" is attached, enabling more dynamic and powerful posing.
The main unit of the "RG 1/144 Akatsuki Gundam (Oowashi Pack)" integrates intricate sculpting and precise color separation into its 1/144 scale. The entire mobile suit features three distinct shades of gold-plated exterior armor parts. Its multi-faceted design meticulously adjusts light reflection angles, giving the "Yata-no-Kagami" mirror coating a brilliant, lustrous sheen. The movable inner frame incorporates some parts from the Strike Gundam, combined with pull-out shoulder joints, torso side-sway articulation, interlocking armor mechanisms on the limbs, and movable nozzle designs on the shoulders and legs, resulting in exceptionally flexible posing capabilities.
Weaponry includes a beam rifle, shield, and beam saber. The "Oowashi Pack" on the back also boasts intricate sculpting, faithfully recreating its impressive thruster structure, and can be detached from the main unit for standalone display. Multiple sections, including the nose and beam cannons, feature deployment mechanisms, while the main wings offer multi-stage articulation, allowing for various silhouette changes. When combined with the Akatsuki Gundam, it can recreate dynamic shooting poses while wielding two "73F-type Modified High-Energy Beam Cannons."
The "HG 1/144 Zeus Silhouette" can be assembled into a Mobile Armor (MA) form exceeding 50 cm in length for standalone display. After disassembling its parts, it can combine with the "RG 1/144 Akatsuki Gundam" using dedicated joint parts. This combination fully recreates the additional armor on various sections, the large thrusters added to both legs, the "Super-Large Railgun" which is approximately twice the length of the main unit, and the three spare railgun barrels suspended on the back. Multiple missile hatches on the back and legs feature deployment mechanisms, and internal warhead details can be recreated by swapping parts.
