BANDAI SPIRITS' prize figure brand BANPRESTO is launching the latest addition to its "FIGLIFE!" series, which blends collectible figures with everyday life. This new item, the "Turbo Granny (Maneki-neko) Piggy Bank," hails from the popular anime and manga series "Dandadan" and is set to release on July 23, 2026!
"Dandadan" kicks off with a wager between Okarun (Ken Takakura), a sci-fi otaku who disbelieves in ghosts, and Momo Ayase, a psychic's granddaughter who doesn't believe in aliens. Both soon encounter phenomena they thought impossible in haunted locations. Momo is abducted by aliens and awakens psychic powers, while Okarun is cursed by Turbo Granny, losing his "golden balls" but gaining super-speed. Thus begins an urban adventure centered around the quest to retrieve Okarun's missing "golden balls."
Turbo Granny's Maneki-neko form emerged after Okarun and Momo defeated her, causing the weakened granny to possess a Maneki-neko statue in Momo's home. To regain her full power, she begrudgingly assists Okarun and his companions. However, during their adventures, she develops an unexpected fondness for the group, often helping them out of various predicaments despite her sharp tongue. Her possession of the Maneki-neko grants her the power of luck, allowing her to create advantageous coincidences. The "Turbo Granny (Maneki-neko) Piggy Bank" stands approximately 20cm tall, depicting Granny in her signature squinty-eyed, standing pose. A coin slot is conveniently located on her back. No detail has been overlooked, even down to the painted paw pads on her hands, making this figure undeniably adorable!
