Renowned toy manufacturer PLEX (株式会社プレックス) has announced a new release from its HEROES VINYL ART brand, a collaboration with sofubi creators focused on hero-themed vinyl figures. The latest offering is the "Kamen Rider Kuuga Vs. Set" sofubi figures, priced at 17,600 JPY. Pre-orders will be available via lottery registration on Japan's Premium Bandai website from July 23 to August 16, 2026, with an estimated shipping date of October 2026!
Debuting in 2000, "Kamen Rider Kuuga" marked the first installment of the Heisei Kamen Rider series. The story begins with the excavation of an ancient, mysterious belt, which inadvertently awakens the alien lifeforms known as the Grongi, who then launch devastating attacks on Nagano. Adventurer Yusuke Godai witnesses the crisis at the Nagano Prefectural Police Department and, driven by instinct, dons the belt relic held by the police. He transforms into the warrior "Kuuga," embarking on a journey to protect people's smiles!
This sofubi figure set features a reinterpretation by renowned sofubi artist PicoPico (ピコピコ). It brings to life Kuuga in his Mighty Form and the memorable Grongi tribe's Beetle Grongi, Go-Gadoru-Ba (ゴ・ガドル・バ), in a handcrafted, approximately 12 cm tall sculpt. These figures can be displayed together to recreate their iconic battle scenes! The intricate sculpting beautifully captures the details of Kuuga's suit and Go-Gadoru-Ba's leather-like attire. The charming, stylized large-headed design is incredibly appealing, and the exquisite finish, combining multiple paint applications including flat and pearlescent colors, makes this set a must-have for collectors!
