Japanese model brand WAVE has announced the release of the "SV-001/I メタルスラッグ (Metal Slug)" 1/24 scale assembly model, a classic entry in their "Memorial Game Collection" series. This release commemorates the 30th Anniversary of the "Metal Slug" game franchise. Priced at 5,280 JPY, it is slated for release in December 2026.
"Metal Slug" is a classic 2D side-scrolling shooter game launched by SNK in 1996. It gained widespread popularity for its distinctive pixel art style, abundant hidden elements, and exhilarating action. Since its initial release, the franchise has spawned numerous sequels, cultivating a massive and dedicated fanbase.
The "SV-001/I" is arguably the most iconic single-person tank from the "Metal Slug" series. Its distinctive design, featuring rounded armor, massive treads, exposed rivets, and a compact body, gives it a strong cartoonish charm even amidst explosive battlefields. This model faithfully recreates the classic in-game appearance with khaki-colored molded parts, bringing the cute yet powerful pixelated vehicle to life.
