The winners of the 2026 Japan Game Awards have been announced! The ceremony, an annual event organized by the Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association (CESA) in conjunction with the Tokyo Game Show, revealed this year's top titles on the evening of September 15.
The full list of winners has been published, covering the Grand Award, 12 Awards for Excellence, the Game Designers Award, Special Award, Breakthrough Award, Movement Award, and the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award.
The Japan Game Awards is an event that recognizes and celebrates outstanding computer entertainment software. This year's eligibility period covered titles released in Japan between June 1, 2025, and May 31, 2026, as well as other games that generated significant buzz during the year, even if released outside that window.
The coveted Grand Award was ultimately snagged by Pokémon Pokopia.
Additionally, the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award, which honors an individual or group for significant contributions to the growth and development of the home video game industry, was awarded to Pokémon this year.
The Breakthrough Award, presented to a title that carves out a new genre or gameplay style through original ideas and bold challenges, went to Capcom's buzzworthy title, Cyborg Net.
Meanwhile, the Movement Award—which celebrates games that successfully reached a broad audience, including those who don't typically play games, and made a memorable impact during the year—was awarded to Super Chameleon.
