Grand Theft Auto VI Takes Over Miami: Rockstar Drops Nearly $1 Million on Giant "Welcome to Vice City" Sign

With less than two months until "Grand Theft Auto VI" launches, Rockstar Games has begun bringing Vice City into the real world. According to media reports, the studio spent nearly $1 million to install a massive "Welcome to Vice City" sign on the roof of Miami's Kaseya Center, with crews recently using a helicopter to hoist the structure into place.

Miami Herald reporter Doug Hanks said Miami-Dade County is set to receive $975,000 under its marketing agreement with Rockstar Games, marking the first step in the official rollout of the "Grand Theft Auto VI" promotional campaign across Miami.

In fact, Rockstar Games had already discussed several promotional concepts with local officials in August 2026, including large-scale events, an airport presence and even giving parts of the city a Vice City makeover. The proposals sparked controversy, however, as some local officials argued that the government should not help promote a game centered on crime. A more restrained version of the partnership ultimately received approval.

The Kaseya Center is also home to the NBA's Miami Heat, which will play its first home game of the new season on October 21. That has fueled speculation that Rockstar could use NBA broadcasts to give "Grand Theft Auto VI" even more exposure.

Documents show that the sign will remain in place until at least one year after its installation or the Miami Heat's final home game of the 2026-27 season, whichever comes later.

"Grand Theft Auto VI" is scheduled to launch for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026.
