The BANDAI SPIRITS Hobby Division is set to release the latest kit from "86 -Eighty Six-" in its HG (HIGH GRADE) model kit line on November 6th, 2021: the "1/48 XM2 Reginleif (Kurena/Anju Custom)."
The XM2 Reginleif is a multi-legged armored weapon developed from the M1A4 Juggernaut's design, serving as the successor unit for the Eighty-Six. The machine's defining feature is its paper-thin armor, a trade-off for unparalleled mobility that allows it to evade enemy fire at high speeds. This design, however, places an extreme physical burden on its pilots, earning it the grim nickname "The Passenger Crusher." For the 86, it's simply a higher-spec coffin than the Juggernaut.
The "HG 1/48 XM2 Reginleif (Kurena/Anju Custom)" kit features richly detailed external armor, joint structures, and a cockpit interior, all brought to life through precise, color-separated parts. The legs are equipped with multiple points of articulation, enabling a wide range of dynamic combat poses. In addition to the standard "Heavy Machine Guns" and "Wire Anchors," this set comes packed with impressive heavy weaponry, including the "Long-barreled Smoothbore Cannon" and "Missile Pods." The kit can be built to represent either Kurena's or Anju's personal unit, and includes miniature pilot figures of both characters to place inside the cockpit!
