Bandai Spirits Hobby Division today announced the latest addition to its High Grade (HG) model kit series: the "HG 1/144 Dragonar-1 Lifter 1 Equipped Type" from "Metal Armor Dragonar," scheduled for release in February 2022. This item will be sold exclusively through Bandai's official online store, Premium Bandai.
Bandai is once again bringing to life the protagonist's Metal Armor, Dragonar-1 (D-1), and its "Lifter 1" flight unit from the classic 1987 mecha anime "Metal Armor Dragonar." Designed by mechanical designer Kunio Okawara, this new rendition utilizes the latest modern technology with completely new parts, showcasing sharp, refined armor lines and proportions. Even the box art features brand-new full-color illustrations.
The kit meticulously recreates the honeycomb structure on the chest and features a highly rare internal movable frame for an HG product. The red and blue stripes on the legs are reproduced with separate colored parts, eliminating the need for painting or stickers. The backpack can display its thrusters in an expanded state by swapping parts, and the "Lifter 1" flight unit also features a wing storage mechanism. The kit comes with a wealth of armaments to recreate dynamic battle poses, including the "Assault Knife" (storable in the rear of the calves), the "Laser Sword" (which can recreate a twin-blade mode), "MA Grenades" (storable on the shoulders), "Throwing Bombs" (mountable on the wrists), the "Hand Railgun," and the "Hand Rail Cannon" (both with interchangeable magazines)!
Additionally, the kit includes two head parts, allowing you to freely swap between a sculpt that aligns with Kunio Okawara's original design or the distinctive style incorporated by animator Masami Obari during his work on the opening animation.
