Bandai Candy, the confectionery and toy division of Japan's Bandai Co., Ltd., has announced the latest addition to its "Souzou Galleria" series. This line transforms the fantastical machines from Studio Ghibli's animated worlds into exquisite collectibles. The newest release, "Gunship with Möwe" from "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind," is slated for release in May 2022.
The latest "Souzou Galleria" entry brings to life the iconic high-speed aerial combat machine, the Gunship, from Hayao Miyazaki's masterpiece "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind." This legendary craft, built with remnants of old-world technology and passed down through generations to protect the Valley of the Wind, is meticulously recreated at a length of 24.5 cm, faithfully reproducing its various mechanisms based on the original designs. The Möwe, previously released, also makes a return, redesigned to be in scale with the Gunship.
The "Souzou Galleria Gunship" faithfully captures its streamlined, raptor-like appearance from the film. Its khaki armor is intricately detailed with rivet joints, a clear cockpit canopy, and the main cannon on the nose. The wings feature a folding mechanism for its parked state, deployable maintenance hatches, movable flaps, and retractable landing gear. Furthermore, blue LED lights are embedded within the wings, illuminating to simulate the propulsion energy jets!
Accessories include clear-molded pilot figures of Nausicaä and Mito, which can be placed inside the Gunship's cockpit. An additional Nausicaä figure riding the Möwe is also included, allowing fans to recreate iconic scenes. The dedicated display stand features several alloy parts embedded in its base for added weight, ensuring stable presentation of the Gunship in various flight poses.
