Japanese toy company MegaHouse (メガハウス) is set to release the Craft Rubik's Cube Takumi 1st Edition Kutani Ware Gosai, a decorative art piece that masterfully combines the iconic Rubik's Cube puzzle with traditional Japanese Kutani Ware craftsmanship. Originally priced at 99,000 JPY, it was made available for pre-order on the Premium Bandai website with an anticipated release in February 2022.
The Craft Rubik's Cube Takumi 1st Edition Kutani Ware Gosai embodies the philosophy of "touching objects passed down through generations to awaken inherent human sensibilities." This exquisite piece seamlessly integrates Japan's representative centuries-old painted ceramic art, Kutani Ware, into the world-renowned Rubik's Cube. It features the five distinct glazes known as "Takumi 1st Edition Kutani Gosai"—green, yellow, purple, lapis lazuli blue, and red. Each of the nine-square tiles is meticulously hand-painted by skilled artisans from Kida Seito, a celebrated Kutani Ware kiln, resulting in a vibrant, unique palette and the distinct, luxurious weight and texture of fine porcelain.
