BANDAI SPIRITS Hobby Division has announced the first model kit from the popular character model kit series Figure-rise Standard based on "Uma Musume Pretty Derby": Tokai Teio, slated for release in September 2022.
The highly popular Uma Musume Tokai Teio (トウカイテイオー), who starred as the protagonist in the anime's second season, is based on the real-life Japanese racehorse of the same name, dubbed the "Miracle Racehorse" in the early 1990s. After her debut, she immediately achieved an undefeated double crown, but multiple fractures cost her the Triple Crown and two Emperor's Cups. Despite repeated losses and injuries, she consistently challenged herself after recovery. Ultimately, after more than a year of recuperation and against all odds, she made a miraculous comeback at the Arima Kinen, surpassing favorite Biwa Hayahide to win the race, cementing her legendary status.
The Figure-rise Standard Tokai Teio is assembled from precision-engineered multi-color molded parts, boasting an unparalleled level of part separation compared to previous entries in the series. Her racing uniform and hair are cleverly divided into various colored parts, allowing nearly all colors to be reproduced with a straight build, with the exception of the golden embroidery on her cuffs and the horseshoes on her feet.
For the expressive facial features, the kit utilizes both pre-printed parts and included water-slide decals. Currently, three distinct expressions are shown, capturing Teio's cheerful personality and her serious smile during races. The figure's petite physique is also faithfully recreated, featuring flexible articulation and multiple interchangeable hand parts, allowing collectors to pose her in her signature Teio dance or dynamic running stances!
