The new "SHOKUGAN MODELING PROJECT" (SMP) series, an evolution of the familiar Super Minipla (スーパーミニプラ) candy toy model kit line, is set to launch in April 2022, featuring the protagonist robot, Daitarn 3, from the classic mecha anime series "Muteki Kōjin Daitarn 3" (無敵鋼人ダイターン3)!
"Muteki Kōjin Daitarn 3" is a robot anime produced by Japan's renowned Sunrise (now Sunrise Animation), which began airing on Nagoya TV in 1978. The story follows protagonist Banjo Haran, who originally lived on Mars with his family. His father, Dr. Sozo Haran, was conducting research on cyborgs when they were suddenly attacked by the invading Meganoide (メガノイド). In a critical moment, Banjo's mother sent him back to Earth in a rocket with a large amount of gold. Banjo later used this gold to establish a base and piloted the colossal 120-meter-tall robot, "Daitarn 3," to battle the enemies on Earth.
This SMP Daitarn 3 is released in three separate boxes, parts A, B, and C. Combining all three allows you to assemble the complete Daitarn 3, standing approximately 18.3 cm tall. In addition to offering a wide range of poses, it comes with a rich assortment of accessories, including Daitarn 3's dedicated spear (19 cm long), a fan-shaped weapon, and a deployed circular shield. Three sets of articulated interchangeable hand parts are also included. True to the original series, Daitarn 3 can transform into its Dai-Fighter (ダイファイター) flight mode and Dai-Tank (ダイタンク) heavy tank mode, and this SMP kit faithfully recreates those transformations.
This special "COME HERE!" complete set includes all the aforementioned items, plus a wealth of additional accessories. These include Daitarn's twin Zanbato swords, decorative rear wing parts, and Banjo's personal car from the original series, which can even transform into a small fighter jet mode. It's an incredibly comprehensive package.
