A 70s classic makes its comeback! Japanese toy manufacturer Aoshima Bunka Kyozai (Aoshima) is set to release the third entry in its "New Gattai Series" product line, a revival project celebrating the company's 96th anniversary: the "Gattai Musashi"! It was scheduled for release in July 2022.
The late 1970s to 1980s marked the golden age of giant robots, with toys based on popular anime skyrocketing in popularity. However, Aoshima Bunka Kyozai's third-generation president, Masao Aoshima, sought to avoid the constraints of licensing. He independently created numerous original robot-themed model kits, such as "Gattai Atlanger" and "Gattai Musashi," which are still revered as classic masterpieces by many veteran collectors today.
After many years, Aoshima Bunka Kyozai is relaunching this Gattai series, not only redesigning the robots but also introducing a new element: "bishojo" (beautiful girl) figures. The "New Gattai Series" merges these robots with articulated bishojo figures to create a fresh product. The robots themselves retain their signature separation, combination, and transformation capabilities, complete with full articulation and weapon accessories.
This third release is the "Gattai Musashi," another classic robot theme from Aoshima Bunka Kyozai's 1970s lineup. It can separate into four smaller machines. Accompanying the Gattai Musashi is the bishojo figure "Jinguji Nagisa," who appears in a sexy and stylish captain's uniform. She can also be combined with the robot's parts, and her head decorations are interchangeable.
