TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS company, has announced the upcoming release of the "S.H.Figuarts Shinkocchou Seihou Ultraman Tiga Power Type" from the "Ultraman Tiga" series. This new figure, which sculpts figures from the skeletal structure to achieve the original heroic proportions and natural articulation of Tokusatsu heroes, follows the previously released Ultraman Tiga Multi Type and is slated for release in May 2022.
Ultraman Tiga is an ancient "Giant of Light" who protected Earth 30 million years ago. After defeating the Lord of Darkness, his body transformed into a stone statue, slumbering within a pyramid deep in the mountains. 30 million years later, he merged with GUTS member Daigo Madoka to once again confront the Evil God Gatanothor, who sought to destroy civilization. Marking the first time a form-changing ability was introduced to the Ultraman series, Tiga can switch between the Multi Type (balancing power and speed), the Sky Type (specializing in speed and technique), and the Power Type (specializing in power and endurance).
The "S.H.Figuarts Shinkocchou Seihou Ultraman Tiga Power Type" is based on modifications to the Multi Type. Supervised by Tsuburaya Productions' LLS modeling department, with Minoru Narita, who was responsible for Tiga's suit design, serving as the prototype sculptor. Digital scanning technology was used to capture the body proportions of suit actor Koji Nakamura, who portrayed Tiga at the time, thoroughly recreating Ultraman Tiga's on-screen physique.
The overall sculpt meticulously reproduces the subtle asymmetrical details and the Power Type's characteristic red and silver color scheme. A full-body articulated frame is constructed with precision parts, while soft vinyl materials are used for areas like the chest, abdomen, and waist, allowing for even more natural posing. In addition to five pairs of interchangeable hands and a red-light Color Timer, the figure also includes effect parts for his signature move, the "Delacium Light Stream"!
