Kaiyodo, Japan's renowned model manufacturer, has officially announced the dates and ticket information for the nation's largest Garage Kit (GK) model exhibition, "Wonder Festival 2022 [Winter]". This year's WF will take place on February 6, 2022, once again at the familiar Makuhari Messe Halls 1-8.

Originating in 1984, "WONDER FESTIVAL" is Japan's largest figure and model kit exhibition, organized by Kaiyodo. Currently held twice a year, in winter and summer, the event sees major Japanese toy manufacturers like Bandai, Takara Tomy, and Good Smile Company showcasing their latest product prototypes. However, the core mission and original intent of Wonder Festival is to provide a platform for passionate professional and amateur sculptors and prototypers, allowing them to set up booths, display, and sell their self-produced creations, gaining wider exposure.
However, 2020 saw the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in Japan, leading to two consecutive years without a physical exhibition, which were temporarily replaced by online events. While Japan's vaccination rate is now close to 80%, the average daily confirmed cases still exceed one hundred. There are ongoing efforts to prevent the invasion of variant strains and reduce cluster infections. Given the Japanese government's current pandemic policies, attendees can only hope for good fortune that a last-minute cancellation, like previous instances, won't occur again.
