Following the release of the Fafner Mk.Sein, the Japanese MECHA SMILE brand's "MODEROID" model kit series has announced its latest entry from the anime "Fafner in the Azure THE BEYOND": the "Fafner Mark Nicht," slated for an August 2022 release.
The Fafner Mark Nicht is a Savior-type Fafner developed by scientist Mitsuhiro Bartland for the New United Nations. While it shares the same base frame as the Fafner Mk.Sein, its design philosophy is diametrically opposed. Where the Mk.Sein was built to "save as many lives as possible," the Mark Nicht was designed for "single-handedly defeating numerous enemies." Possessing immense combat capabilities, it was repeatedly hijacked by the Festum, inflicting heavy damage on human forces, and its appearance grew increasingly sinister. It was eventually sealed within the "Sarcophagus" on Tatsumiya Island, only to reawaken in "EXODUS" and "THE BEYOND" as Soushi Minashiro's secondary protagonist unit.
Making its debut as a model kit, the "MODEROID Fafner Mark Nicht" is based on its appearance in "THE BEYOND." It faithfully recreates the evolving, alien form seen since the theatrical releases, with its massive, biological arms and legs exuding a powerful presence. The kit utilizes multiple molded plastic colors, clear parts, and some pre-painted components, ensuring that a straight build closely matches its in-show design.
Accessories include eight Assimilation Anchors, one Luger Lance, an effect part for the Luger Lance's firing state, one Worm Ring, two back stabilizers, and various interchangeable hand parts. Through part swapping, the back stabilizers can be displayed in both normal and glowing states, and the Luger Lance can replicate its firing mode. Furthermore, the kit features mechanisms to deploy the Assimilation Anchors and unfold the Tracking Laser Launchers.
