Japanese model maker Kaiyodo announced today that their "Revoltech Yamaguchi Hunter Male Swordsman Rathalos Series" figure, originally released in 2012 as part of their "Revoltech" line based on the "Monster Hunter" series, will be reissued in May 2022 with upgraded, state-of-the-art joint specifications. This item will be exclusively available through Kaiyodo's direct retail channels.
Sculpted by Ken Matsuura, this figure meticulously captures the distinctive features of the Rathalos armor, blending fiery red dragon scales with metallic plating. Intricate details on the plate armor and leather are finely rendered, alongside the organic texture of rough dragon scales and sharp thorns. For weapons, the figure comes equipped with the imposing "Rathalos Great Sword" and the agile "Blazing Edge."
Articulation for the new version was supervised by veteran Kaiyodo sculptor Katsuhisa Yamaguchi. The updated figure now features the advanced GEO joints, previously utilized in the "REVO GEO" series. Standing approximately 140mm tall, the figure boasts an impressive 23 points of articulation, allowing collectors to recreate the Great Sword's iconic three-stage charge attack with the included display stand.
