Bandai Candy, the Shokugan division of Bandai Spirits, recently unveiled the unpainted prototype for its latest release from "Super Robot Wars OG": the "R-GUN." This figure is part of the new "SHOKUGAN MODELING PROJECT" line, which evolved from the popular "SUPER MINIPLA" model kit series, with releases slated throughout 2022.
The "SRX Project" is an Earth Federation Army initiative, executed by the Far East Branch's Izu Base, focused on developing "Personal Trooper" humanoid mobile weapons. Its goal is to leverage EOT (Extra-Over Technology) to create superweapons capable of single-handedly turning the tide of battle. Key units include the highly mobile "R-1," which transforms into a fighter jet; the heavily armored, artillery-focused "R-2"; the long-range sniper "R-3"; and the "R-GUN," which functions as a dedicated weapon. Each of the four units boasts unique armaments and can operate independently. However, their true potential is unleashed when they combine to form the super robot "SRX (Super Robot X-Type)." In this combined form, SRX possesses immense combat capabilities, utilizing its pilots' psychokinesis to unleash powerful attacks like the "Tenjo Tenge Nen-Dō Bakusai Ken" (Heaven and Earth Psychokinetic Burst Sword) and the "Tenjo Tenge Ichigeki Hissatsu Hō" (Heaven and Earth One-Shot Kill Cannon).
The recently revealed unpainted prototype of the R-GUN showcases a sleek, elongated silhouette with intricate detailing. With separately sold enhancement parts, it can be converted into the "R-GUN Powered," equipped with a high-performance twin-barreled mega-cannon. When transformed into its "Metal Genocider Mode," its total length reaches an impressive 30 cm!
Prototypes for the other units are still undergoing adjustments. As previously announced this summer regarding sales methods, the "R-1 & R-GUN" set will be released via general retail channels. Meanwhile, the "R-2 Powered & R-3 Powered" and the "SRX Option Parts Set & R-GUN Plus Parts" will be exclusive to Premium Bandai.
