PLEX and X-PLUS have announced the latest addition to their popular "Daikaiju Series" of Japanese tokusatsu-themed vinyl figures: the "Ultraman" figure from the movie "Shin Ultraman," slated for a May 2022 release.
While sporting the familiar round eyes and red-and-silver body, this Ultraman differs significantly from the original. The Ultraman appearing in the "Shin Ultraman" movie, which premiered on May 13, 2022, is based on the late original Ultraman designer Tohl Narita's concept art, "Incarnation of Truth and Justice." This design notably omits elements found on the traditional tokusatsu suit, such as the "Color Timer," "performer's eyeholes below the eyes," and the "fin-like design created by the back zipper." Instead, it faithfully recreates Narita's vision of a slender, elegant, and streamlined physique.

The "Daikaiju Series Ultraman (Shin Ultraman)" figure stands at approximately 22 cm tall, capturing Ultraman in his iconic "Specium Ray" attack pose. True to Tohl Narita's original design, it omits the Color Timer, eyeholes, and back fins, faithfully reproducing his envisioned slender and elegant physique.
This product will be available in both a standard edition and a limited edition, sold exclusively on the official "Shonen RIC" online store. The limited edition includes a special base with a built-in light-up mechanism, allowing Ultraman's eyes to glow once batteries are inserted and the power is switched on!
