Max Factory's popular "figma" posable figure series recently announced the latest 2022 "Snow Miku" release, "Snow Miku Grand Voyage ver.", slated for September 2022.
Snow Miku (雪ミク) serves as the official ambassador for Hokkaido's winter tourism, always accompanied by her adorable Ezo snow rabbit companion, "Rabbit Yukine." The character originated from a Hatsune Miku snow sculpture created for the 2010 Sapporo Snow Festival. Crypton Future Media, the company that planned and developed Hatsune Miku, is also based in Sapporo, Hokkaido. Since then, Hokkaido hosts the annual "SNOW MIKU" festival (held in conjunction with the Sapporo Snow Festival), where costume designs are solicited online each year based on a different theme.
For 2022, Snow Miku's theme is Hokkaido's winter "sea." Designed by Detsu (でつ), this Snow Miku design, which incorporates naval aesthetics, crashing waves, and elements of crabs (a popular autumn/winter delicacy), was chosen from nearly a thousand submissions. Illustrator Wada Arco (ワダアルコ), renowned for character designs in the "Fate/EXTRA" series, was also invited to create the main visual, while Carlos Hakamada (SaizeP) (カルロス袴田(サイゼP)) produced the exclusive theme song.
The "figma Snow Miku Grand Voyage ver." meticulously recreates the naval-crab fusion costume details. Her twin-tail hair, resembling ocean waves, is rendered with translucent materials. The figure features figma's signature flexible joint parts throughout for dynamic posing, with key areas made from soft materials to minimize articulation interference.
For accessories, the figure includes three interchangeable face plates: a "standard face," a "smiling face," and a "sparkling face." She also comes with her rabbit companion "Rabbit Yukine," a "front hair part with sunglasses," a "telescope," and an "upper body part without her coat" to create a wider variety of poses and scenes!
