TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS, today announced the latest addition to its "S.H.Figuarts (Shinkocchou Seihou)" series: "Ultraman." Sculpted from the skeleton up to accurately recreate the physique of the tokusatsu hero's suit actor, this highly anticipated figure is slated for a July 2022 release.
The "S.H.Figuarts (Shinkocchou Seihou) Ultraman" marks a dual celebration: the 55th anniversary of the "Ultraman" series and the 100th S.H.Figuarts "Ultraman" commemorative product. Supervised by Tsuburaya Productions' LSS modeling department, the prototype was expertly crafted by Yutaka Narita, who was also responsible for the Shinkocchou Seihou Ultraman Tiga. The original Ultraman's design was famously based on the physique of suit actor Bin Furuya, and this Shinkocchou Seihou figure similarly sculpts the form from the skeleton, meticulously recreating Furuya's iconic body.
The sculpt faithfully reproduces the distinctive wrinkles and subtle left-right asymmetrical details unique to the suit. Even the hand shapes are thoroughly recreated based on scan data from Mr. Bin Furuya. Accessories include six pairs of interchangeable hands, a swappable red Color Timer, and effect parts for his signature attacks: the "Specium Ray" and "Ultra Slash."
