Japanese toy company EVOLUTION TOY is set to release Minerva X (ミネルバX) from Go Nagai's iconic robot series "Mazinger Z" (マジンガーZ), joining their popular large-scale sofubi line, the "GRAND SOFVI BIGSIZE MODEL" (GSBM). The figure is slated for an April 2022 launch.
Minerva X (ミネルバX), often dubbed the "Female Mazinger" or "Mazinger Lady," was originally conceived as an unmanned partner robot for Mazinger Z. However, its blueprints were stolen by Dr. Hell, who then manufactured it to combat Mazinger Z. Equipped with similar weaponry, Minerva X featured a hexagonal "Partner Circuit" (パートナー回路) on its abdomen, allowing it to automatically synchronize its actions with Mazinger Z's emitted signals. In the original story, a circuit malfunction caused Minerva X to lose control. In a desperate move, Sayaka was forced to fire Aphrodite A's Missile Punch, destroying Minerva X, which Mazinger Z then laid to rest in the sea.
This large-scale sofubi figure from EVOLUTION TOY faithfully recreates Minerva X's feminine physique, standing approximately 37 cm tall. While it features a color scheme very similar to Mazinger Z, each part is distinctly sculpted to emphasize its feminine form. The blue diamond-like Partner Circuit device on its abdomen is also meticulously reproduced. Fans of the Mazinger Z series will definitely want to check this out.
