Max Factory's popular PLAMAX model kit brand today announced the second installment in its legendary model series: the latest product, the Iron Giant, from the OVA anime "Panzer World Galient: Crest of Iron," scheduled for release in September 2022.
Appearing in the OVA anime "Panzer World Galient: Crest of Iron," the Iron Giant is a legendary mecha, reimagined from the protagonist's unit, the "Iron Giant," in the TV anime series. Piloted by protagonist Prince Jordi, the Iron Giant wields overwhelming power. With just a single sword, it effortlessly annihilated most of the mecha soldiers in the series. When confronting the formidable Evil God Soldiers, it even demonstrated the unique ability to manipulate its shattered sword fragments, piercing through enemy units.
This new PLAMAX kit is a re-creation of Max Factory's original 1986 "Iron Giant" sofubi kit. Spanning over 35 years, each original part was digitized using modern 3D scanning technology to faithfully reproduce the design. The result is a 15cm tall, non-articulated plastic model kit that not only captures the cool, heavy armor design but also meticulously recreates the uneven cast texture on the armor surface and the shield specifically designed for the original sofubi. Once completed, the kit can be posed to match the iconic stance from the original model box art.
It's important to note that this product differs from most modern model kits that feature precise color separation and intricate parts. Builders will need to perform extensive trimming and sanding during assembly, and some parts will require model cement for secure attachment. Furthermore, the majority of the colors will need to be painted by the builder to achieve the vibrant, finished look seen in the official images. Prospective buyers should consider their modeling skill level before purchasing.
