American collectible manufacturer Sideshow Collectibles recently announced a new addition to its "Premium Format Figure" statue series: the highly anticipated MARVEL Spider-Gwen! Both a Regular Edition and an EX Edition will be released simultaneously, with an estimated shipping window of March to May 2023.
Standing approximately 60.3 cm (23.75 inches) tall, this piece captures Spider-Gwen mid-swing, soaring through the New York City skyline. Sideshow has meticulously sculpted the signature details of her costume, from the intricate folds and the web patterns on the fuchsia sections to her iconic light blue ballet flats. Her pose is dynamic and relaxed, creating a sense of vibrant motion by anchoring her to a traffic light pole. In her right hand, she holds a phone displaying an unmasked Miles Morales, suggesting the two are in a video call. A closer look also reveals drumsticks tucked into the side of Gwen's backpack (though they look precariously placed!).
▼ However, the quality of the phone screen display leaves much to be desired.
The special diorama base, themed after New York City's towering skyscrapers, truly comes alive when viewed from a low angle, emphasizing its dramatic impact. On the side of the base, fans will spot a graffiti-tagged sign for Matt Murdock, who is a villain on Earth-65. The EX Edition also includes an additional unmasked Gwen Stacy head sculpt.
