The assembly model series 『MODEROID』, launched by Japan's MECHA SMILE brand, has announced its latest product from 《Brave Raideen》, "Raideen", scheduled for release in July 2023.
Raideen is the giant robot piloted by protagonist Akira Hibiki in the 1975 anime 《Brave Raideen》. Constructed 12,000 years ago in the Mu Empire, it is the only weapon in the series capable of fighting against the enemy Demon Empire. Normally stored inside the Sphinx-like rock in its golden elemental form, it is activated by Akira Hibiki's psychokinetic powers. It possesses a rich array of armaments including bows, swords, boomerangs, and more, and also features a transformation mechanism that allows it to change into a raptor-like flying form, "GOD BIRD" (Divine Bird).
The "MODEROID Raideen" features concept design by renowned robot toy designer Tsuyoshi Nonaka. Once assembled, the kit stands approximately 19 cm tall, faithfully recreating its refined and streamlined appearance from the series through multi-color molded parts, partially pre-painted parts, and stickers. Not only can the face be swapped between two expressions – a standard face and a shouting face – but accessories also include three types of armament parts: God Gorgon, God Block, and God Breaker, allowing for dynamic battle poses from the show. Furthermore, its distinctive flying form, "God Bird," can be extensively recreated using dedicated interchangeable parts.
