Japanese toy company KOTOBUKIYA's "ARTFX J" figure series is set to release a 1/8 scale figure of "Shota Aizawa," the homeroom teacher of the protagonists from the popular serialized work "My Hero Academia"! It is scheduled for release in December 2023!
"My Hero Academia" (僕のヒーローアカデミア) began serialization in "Weekly Shonen Jump" in 2014, and its sixth anime season is currently airing. The story follows protagonist Izuku Midoriya, who, despite being Quirkless, dreams of becoming a hero like the famous "All Might." By chance, he learns All Might's true identity and inherits his Quirk, "One For All," subsequently enrolling in U.A. High School where he meets many characters with distinct Quirks. The exaggerated, American comic-book style fight scenes in the original work are one of its popular elements.
"Eraser Head," Shota Aizawa, is a teacher at U.A. High School in the original story, serving as the homeroom teacher for Izuku Midoriya and the rest of Class 1-A. His Quirk, "Erasure," allows him to temporarily nullify another person's Quirk within a certain range by looking at them with his eyes. His personality dislikes trouble and complexity; he often has deadpan, disheveled eyes and always appears indifferent, preferring to sleep whenever possible and disliking ostentatious actions. He values rationality and takes a practical approach, directly expelling students with no potential, which contrasts with All Might's teaching philosophy. Nevertheless, he is also a good teacher who cares for his students.
This PVC figure of Shota Aizawa from the ARTFX J series is materialized based on his battle pose with his goggles on (the goggles are detachable). Its most prominent feature is undoubtedly the "capture weapon" wrapped around Aizawa-sensei, resembling a white scarf. This is his combat tool, and Kotobukiya's skillful recreation gives it a dynamic and flowing feel. Furthermore, if purchased from Kotobukiya's official online store, an additional facial expression part will be included.
