Japan's long-established magazine publisher specializing in various appendices, "Hachette Collections Japan" (アシェット・コレクションズ・ジャパン), will follow up on its 2021 weekly "Iron Castle Mazinger Z" project by launching a weekly appendix featuring the 90cm tall "Great Mazinger" (偉大な勇者 グレートマジンガー)!
Marketing magazines through appendices is a common strategy. The famous "Robi" robot was one such product, and "Hachette Collections Japan", this Japanese magazine publisher, has previously released many appendix products such as Shinkansen bullet trains, tanks, fighter jets, various car models, and even items like the VF-1 Valkyrie from Macross and the Space Battleship Yamato. The publication 《Iron Castle Mazinger Z: Build a Giant Metal Gimmick Model》 (鉄の城 マジンガーZ 巨大メタル・ギミックモデルをつくる), launched in 2021, was well-received, leading to the decision to extend the project. After the 100 issues of Mazinger Z conclude, Great Mazinger will begin with issue 101.
Similarly requiring 100 issues to complete assembly, this Great Mazinger stands at an impressive 90cm tall. Both its eyes and the V-shaped red heat dissipation plate on its chest are embedded with LED light-emitting components, allowing them to glow. The Brain Condor, piloted by Tetsuya Tsurugi, the Screw Crusher Punch, Mazinger Blade, and the Great Booster in its deployed wing state, along with a handshake accessory for Mazinger Z, are all meticulously recreated. Additionally, it will feature sound components with recorded lines by Mr. Keiichi Noda, the voice actor for Tetsuya Tsurugi. It is sure to be a richly detailed finished product.
