The latest product from Japan's MECHA SMILE brand's assembly model kit series, 'MODEROID,' was announced today: "Orguss" from the classic robot anime "Super Dimension Century," which celebrates its 40th anniversary, is scheduled for release in January 2024.
The Orguss unit being released is the machine piloted by the protagonist, Kei Katsuragi, in the series. The kit is thoroughly supervised by mechanical designer Kazutaka Miyatake and consists of multi-color molded parts, pre-painted parts, and decals, allowing for a significant recreation of its in-show appearance even in a straight build. It also includes a missile gun and interchangeable hand parts to recreate various battle scenes.
The completed Orguss stands approximately 16 cm tall, faithfully reproducing the anime's smooth armor lines and intricate detail. In addition to articulated joints, it features a transformation mechanism that allows for the recreation of its four forms—Orguroid, Flier, Gerwalk, and Tank—without the need for part swapping. Furthermore, for the Flier & Gerwalk forms, "cockpit parts" with priority on scale are included, which, when swapped, allow for an even closer resemblance to its in-show appearance.
