In the annual lineup from the Danish toy company LEGO, vehicle-themed sets are often the key products that entice fans to open their wallets. The Technic series, which focuses on mechanical linkages and moves beyond traditional LEGO bricks, frequently attacks our budgets with stunning vehicle models! This time, we're getting our hands on the set released today (the 1st), YAMAHA's street fighter, the "YAMAHA MT-10 SP"!

Thanks to a collaboration with YAMAHA's professional design team, this LEGO "MT-10 SP" boasts what is claimed to be the most complex and realistic gearbox in the Technic series, incorporating brand-new shift drum, shift fork, and ratchet sleeve components. During the building process, one can't help but be impressed once again by the designer's skill and the possibilities of LEGO parts. The exterior appearance is also outstanding, and coupled with its ability to interact with the "LEGO® TECHNIC® AR" app, you can continue to explore more possibilities with this model even after assembly. It's incredibly exciting, so let's dive right in!
▼ The packaging box features a black and blue color scheme, which clearly highlights the LEGO "Yamaha MT-10 SP" model while conveying a futuristic feel.

▼ The top right corner of the front features a prominent logo indicating compatibility with the "LEGO® TECHNIC® AR" app. The top also shows a 1:1 scale diagram of the wheel rim part.

▼ The back displays the other side of the motorcycle, details, photos of the real vehicle, and detailed specifications after assembly; it reaches a length of 44 cm and a height of 25 cm.

▼ The side has a diagram illustrating the interaction with the LEGO® TECHNIC® AR app, which we will discuss later.

▼ Let's open it up! There are a total of 13 bags numbered up to 6, plus one unnumbered bag containing the wheel rims, front fork, and throttle cable parts, for a total of 1478 pieces.

▼ The rubber front and rear tires have different widths and an impressive size. We've used a LEGO minifigure for scale here so our fellow toy enthusiasts can get a better sense of it.

▼ There is one instruction manual with a grayish-white background, featuring a front view of the bike and the YAMAHA and LEGO logos in the corners.

▼ Opening it up reveals a brief introduction to the star of the show, the real MT-10 SP, and its LEGO model. The designer is Lars Thygesen, who is also a huge motorcycle enthusiast himself!

▼ A comparison between the model and the real vehicle.

▼ This time, the assembly process can be roughly divided into "constructing the frame," "assembling the powertrain," "installing the front and rear wheels and the handlebars," and finally, attaching the "bodywork and swingarm." As you assemble the various units of the motorcycle model step-by-step with LEGO parts, it feels as if you are experiencing the process of building a real MT-10 SP.

▼ One sticker sheet.

▼ Now, let's start building!
▼ It's finished! First, let's admire the super-cool MT-10 SP from all angles. The presence of its 44 cm length is no joke!

▼ Although the entire inverted front fork isn't gold like on the real bike, the front fork parts are still very eye-catching!

▼ You can also remove the display stand and use the side stand to support it.

▼ Next, let's look at the details of this LEGO MT-10 SP in the order of assembly! After all, a large part of the linkage mechanism gets hidden after assembly, and it would be a shame not to show it to you all! First, we start with building the frame. Compared to building shapes with basic bricks, Technic parts can construct forms with fewer pieces and more quickly, but it definitely requires a better sense of spatial awareness!

▼ Next up are the gearbox and engine. You can see that the gearshift's dog clutch, crankshaft, shift forks, shift drum, and the various large and small gear parts inside the gearbox are all made in vibrant colors; they are completed as separate modules and then combined, a process that is quite therapeutic.

▼ The four-cylinder engine with pistons that move via gear linkage.

▼ Combine!

▼ Attaching the golden chain gets the excitement going!

▼ There's a specific direction for this, so pay close attention during assembly.

▼ The above is roughly the state after finishing all the parts from bag number 3. Moving on to the parts in bag number 4, we start assembling the rear wheel and mounting the previously built engine and gearbox onto the frame. This part is really fun!

▼ The shock absorber part is based on the real bike's Öhlins suspension.

▼ The use of barrel parts for the headlights is very interesting!

▼ The YAMAHA logo on the body, the MT-10 SP lettering, the electronic dashboard, the fuel tank cap, and more are added with stickers.

▼ In addition to the body, the display base also uses stickers.

▼ Next, let's appreciate the details~ First up is definitely this cool front end! Proportionally, the front is a little smaller than the real bike, but I personally think it still looks very cool, and the assembly process was interesting.

▼ The lines of the seat, outlined with various parts, are superb!

▼ The throttle cable is made of a soft material, and the process of connecting it is very satisfying.

▼ Though slightly obscured, the rear shock absorber is still super eye-catching.

▼ You can actually experience the fun of shifting gears.

▼ Finally, we have to mention the experience of linking this set with the "LEGO® TECHNIC® AR" app. After scanning the model, you can use your phone to further understand the various parts of this MT-10 SP. You can also see animations of the gear shifting and gearbox operation. Of course, for toy fans like me who don't know much about motorcycles, this app can also help you better appreciate the charm of the MT-10 SP. As an added value for this model, it's definitely a big plus.

LEGO 42159 "YAMAHA MT-10 SP" Unboxing Summary:
This MT-10 SP is truly stunning in terms of appearance. Although there are two minor imperfections—the front being slightly small and the headlights changing from the sharp fisheye style of the real bike to a round shape—I personally believe these flaws don't overshadow its virtues. The competitive feel of a sport street bike combined with its substantial size gives it a powerful presence when displayed, and it has the flexibility of both a display stand and a side stand! The precise and complex internal design of the gearbox is a major highlight that is truly astonishing. Coupled with the playability from the chain linkage, steering, gear shifting, and app integration, it is highly recommended for fans of the MT-10 SP or toy enthusiasts who love the LEGO Technic building experience. The building process is really super fun!
