Prototype Unveiled: Philippines Live-Action 'Voltes V: Legacy Super Electromagnetic Machine Voltes V' New Design Figure!

At the ongoing brand annual exhibition [TAMASHII NATION 2023], TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company, unveiled a prototype of their latest product, "Super Electromagnetic Machine Voltes V," based on the Philippine live-action series 《Voltes V: Legacy》. The release date is yet to be determined.

The protagonist machine, "Voltes V," from 《Super Electromagnetic Machine Voltes V》, one of the robot romance trilogy directed by animation director Tadao Nagahama, is a super robot built to combat the Boazanian Empire's giant battle machines, the "Beast Fighters." It is composed of five Voltes machines: the Volt Cruiser, Volt Bomber, Volt Panzer, Volt Frigate, and Volt Lander. When the five machines arrange themselves in a V-formation and shout "LET’S VOLT IN!", they combine. When this work was introduced to the Philippines in 1978, it achieved over 50% viewership and was even considered one of the key factors that led the people to launch the "People Power Revolution" to overthrow the Marcos dictatorship. Nearly half a century later, the Philippine GMA Network and Japan's Toei decided to adapt this work into a live-action series, 《Voltes V: Legacy》, which began airing in the Philippines in May 2023.

The currently exhibited prototype of "Super Electromagnetic Machine Voltes V" highly recreates the on-screen design, featuring a sharp and cool head, a robust yet balanced physique, and armor rich in layers and details. The entire machine is also treated with rich metallic paint applications in silver, blue, red, and more, further enhancing the heavy, substantial feel of the mecha. However, Bandai has not yet announced which series this Philippine version of Voltes V will be released under, nor is it clear whether its characteristic combining and transforming mechanism will be reproduced.
