BANDAI SPIRITS' TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan, has announced that the latest release from their popular METAL BUILD die-cast toy line's new spin-off series, "METAL BUILD DRAGON SCALE", the "Lancelot Albion" from "Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion", is scheduled for release in May 2024.
The Z-01Z Lancelot Albion is a 9th generation KMF developed specifically for "The Knight Of Zero", Suzaku Kururugi. Unlike previous Lancelot series units which were enhanced and modified, the Albion's frame was redesigned to accommodate the new flight equipment, the "Energy Wing". Its compatibility was improved by referencing Suzaku's past combat data, resulting in higher mobility and weapon destructive power. Coupled with Lelouch's Geass command "Live" placed upon Suzaku, when activated, he can fully unleash the unit's performance with superhuman piloting skills.
The overall design of the "METAL BUILD DRAGON SCALE Lancelot Albion" has been reinterpreted by designer Manabu Shintani, reverse-engineering it based on numerous new mechanisms, giving it a sharper, more substantial new appearance that deviates from the original. In addition to utilizing many METAL BUILD characteristic gunmetal and gold-plated alloy parts for its joints, the entire unit also incorporates the DRAGON SCALE sub-series' signature movable exterior and "Soul Internal Structure". This includes articulated armor designs in multiple areas such as the shoulders, hips, thighs, and knees, allowing for more natural posing. The connection between the torso and the back cockpit utilizes a roller-type crank mechanism that can extend and retract in conjunction with the neck armor, allowing for dynamic launch poses.
The 18 cm tall body features substantial white armor expressed through three layers: glossy white, pearl white, and pearl blue. It is complemented by four shades of gold paint applied to different sections, with the cockpit's seat, screen, and some other colors also faithfully reproduced. The Energy Wing parts are made of clear material with a gradient pearl coating, expressing the glowing texture of emitted energy. The versatile Energy Wings can reach a maximum wingspan of 65 cm. Thanks to internal interlocking and sliding mechanisms, the range of motion at the base can be expanded, allowing for various silhouette changes such as outward spread and forward tilt. By replacing parts, it can also reproduce the "Float Mode", which combines offensive, defensive, and flight capabilities.
Regarding weaponry, it also includes Energy Shield effects with the same texture as the Energy Wings. Its main weapons, two "SUPER VARIS" rifles, feature a four-mode transformation mechanism, and can also be mounted on both hips for bombardment using dedicated parts. Two "MVS" (Maser Vibration Swords) are included, with both stored and activated forms. The highly dynamic weapon "Hien Souga" can be connected to freely bendable cable parts, reproducing scenes where it's launched from both wrists and the outer thighs. The front claw section can deploy without needing to replace parts.
