The 1/6 scale articulated figure series "FigZero", launched by Hong Kong toy brand threezero, recently announced its latest product from the movie "Shin Masked Rider", "Masked Rider No.0", which is scheduled for release in the second quarter of 2024.
The final boss appearing in the film, Masked Rider No.0, is the transformed form of Ichiro Midorikawa, the de facto leader of the SHOCKER organization. This Rider was designed by renowned mechanical designer Yutaka Izubuchi and is the first Masked Rider in history purely based on a butterfly. Its head features antennae and mouthparts, and its chest armor resembles colorful butterfly wings. It possesses the power of "rest" to steal others' "Ki" (souls).
The "FigZero Masked Rider No.0" is produced in 1/6 scale with an overall height of approximately 30 cm, featuring over 32 points of articulation. Its precise sculpting thoroughly recreates the character's appearance from the film, meticulously detailing the butterfly-inspired antennae, compound eyes, and mouthparts on the helmet. Transparent parts and metallic paint are combined to reproduce the texture. The exposed long hair is recreated using flocking, and the white scarf is made of fabric with an embedded adjustable metal wire. The head also features a built-in LED light-up mechanism to illuminate the eyes.
In addition to numerous flexible articulated joints in the body, the costume is composed of parts such as a top, trousers, belt, arm covers, and boots. It is made using leather-like fabric combined with plastic parts, precisely recreating the metallic details of the butterfly-shaped chest armor and belt. Accessories include four pairs of interchangeable hand parts with different poses. For the feet, there are both one-piece parts prioritizing sculpt and articulated split parts prioritizing poseability, available for selection and replacement.
