The classic alloy toy "Chogokin" series, released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company, today announced the latest product from the theatrical film "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM," the "Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam," scheduled for release in July 2024.
The protagonist Kira Yamato's new mobile suit, the ZGMF/A-262B Strike Freedom Gundam Type II, is a new machine developed using the latest technology from Morgenroete after the original "Strike Freedom Gundam" was shot down following an attempted terrorist hijacking half a year before the main story of "FREEDOM." Although its external appearance has not undergone significant changes, all its armaments, except for the High-Energy Beam Rifle, have been updated. Notably, a powerful "Convergent Heavy Nuclear Beam Cannon" is hidden in its forehead, but due to its excessive destructive power and high energy consumption, it cannot be used in this form.
After combining with the new enhanced equipment "Proud Defender," piloted by Lacus Clyne, to form the ZGMF/A-262PD-P Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam, it can disperse nanoparticles via brainwave transmission and unleash a wide-range, powerful high-voltage current to destroy enemy mobile suits. Simultaneously, the most powerful weapon hidden in its head, the "Convergent Heavy Nuclear Beam Cannon," can also be utilized. Furthermore, to counter enemy mobile suits with strong beam resistance, the unit is equipped with a sharp physical sword, the "Futsunomitama."
The "Chogokin Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam" recreates its in-show appearance with an articulated specification standing approximately 19 cm tall. Parts of the figure are made with die-cast metal, utilizing multi-layered color applications and body marking prints to express rich details. It features sharp armor styling, and the gold sections of the entire frame, wings, and other areas are finished with various gold plating processes to reproduce a dazzling golden sheen. Additionally, the head incorporates a built-in LED light-up mechanism, which not only illuminates the head camera but also allows for the recreation of the forehead's "Convergent Heavy Nuclear Beam Cannon" deployment and muzzle illumination by swapping antenna parts.
The "Proud Defender" mounted on the back can recreate both its combined state and its standalone flight state. Each wing is equipped with sliding and deployment mechanisms, allowing for the recreation of the outer armor expanding to reveal the internal red glowing parts. The armaments include two High-Energy Beam Rifles that can recreate their front-and-back linked form, two Beam Sabers that can recreate their hilt-linked form, Beam Shields on both arms, and the physical sword "Futsunomitama." The Futsunomitama features chrome plating to express the metallic texture of its blade.
