Kotobukiya, the Japanese model manufacturer, today announced the latest product from its popular "Megami Device" mecha girl plastic model kit series, "Asra Ninja KANAME," designed by illustrator Nidy-2D-, is scheduled for release in July 2024.
In the official machine settings, the original "Asra series" was highly acclaimed as the first Megami Device unit capable of mounting dedicated armaments on its limbs. However, with the increasing variety of newly released armaments, the original body became progressively unable to cope, leading the series' development to a bottleneck. To address this, a larger body was designed using the same L-type frame as the successor "Oubou series," giving the Asra series, known for its flexible mobility and agility, a complete rebirth. This new body not only inherits the characteristic armaments of the original Asra series but also allows full compatibility with the large armaments of the Oubou series, significantly enhancing the Asra series' expandability.
"Megami Device Asra Ninja KANAME" redesigns the classic Asra Ninja using the same "Machineca Block1.5L" body as the Oubou series. This larger new body allows for a more natural physique, richer details, and flexible articulation. Accordingly, the overall exterior design was also re-envisioned by illustrator Nidy-2D-. Compared to the previous smaller body, it can incorporate a wealth of intricate details, while also expressing the body's fullness through a wider variety of clothing styles.
Accessories include two pre-painted face parts and one unpainted face part that can be customized with water-slide decals. Armaments include the large shuriken "Fuma" and the short sword "Mumei," which can connect to the mask, leg armor, and large shuriken, allowing for various armament configurations with the exterior. However, the product does not include mechanical hand or foot parts; these can be recreated using the included new adapter parts in conjunction with the limb parts from older versions.
Armaments from the old versions of "Asra Ninja" and "Asra Archer" can also be equipped via common 3mm connection points, allowing for multiple modes when combined with existing new armaments. Furthermore, since it uses the same "Machineca Block1.5L" body, limb parts can be freely interchanged with the "Oubou series," enabling the Asra series to equip various exaggerated large armaments.
Additionally, Kotobukiya has announced that product information and pre-orders for the new version of Asra Archer, "Asra Archer KIZUNA," will be revealed in the latter half of February 2024.
