Japanese high-end statue manufacturer Prime 1 Studio yesterday (21st) unveiled the latest product from its "Premium Masterline" series, based on the fantasy epic film "The Lord of the Rings": the "Boromir" 1/4 scale statue bonus version! It is scheduled to ship from May to August 2025, with a suggested retail price of 162,690 JPY (tax included), limited to 400 units worldwide.
Boromir is the eldest son of Denethor II, the Steward of Gondor. His father's concern and expectations for Boromir far surpassed those for his younger brother, Faramir. In the film "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring", to protect Merry and Pippin, he repeatedly rose to fight despite severe injuries, battling until his last breath! Boromir once succumbed to the temptation of the One Ring, attempting to attack Frodo and seize it, seemingly embodying humanity as a race with a fragile will. However, in the novel and the director's extended cut of the film, there are many heroic descriptions of Boromir as the "Captain of the White Tower" of Gondor, fully showcasing his image as a protector of the people of Gondor and a loving brother, making him a true man of valor.
This piece is designed around Boromir's final battle in the woods of Amon Hen, sculpted in a 51 cm height. In addition to meticulously capturing actor Sean Bean's facial contours and his parted, disheveled hair, every detail of Boromir's attire, chainmail, exquisitely carved gauntlets, the Horn of Gondor hanging at his waist, the Elven cloak, and the Elven brooch are faithfully recreated. The dark red blood slowly flowing from his arrow wounds, even with a subtle sheen, is rendered with remarkable realism. The base, featuring a collapsed and damaged statue, scattered withered leaves, and broken giant trees, perfectly conveys the atmosphere of Amon Hen.
The bonus item for this piece is an interchangeable head sculpt that captures Boromir's intense fighting spirit, showing him ready to continue battling with all his might.
