Kotobukiya, the Japanese model manufacturer, today announced the latest product in its popular mecha girl themed plastic model kit series, 'Megami Device': 'Asra Archer KIZUNA,' designed by illustrator Nidy-2D-, is scheduled for release in July 2024.
In the official machine settings, the original 'Asra series' was well-received as the first Megami Device model capable of mounting dedicated armaments on all four limbs. However, as more diverse new armaments were subsequently released, the original body became increasingly unable to cope, leading the series' development to a bottleneck. To address this, a larger body was designed using the same L-type frame as the successor 'Oubun series,' giving the Asra series, known for its flexible mobility and agility, a complete rebirth. This new body not only inherits the characteristic armaments of the original Asra series but also fully supports the large armaments of the Oubun series, significantly enhancing the Asra series' expandability.
The 'Asra Archer KIZUNA' redesigns the classic Asra Ninja using the same 'Machineca Block1.5L' body as the Oubun series. This larger new body allows for a more natural physique, richer details, and flexible articulation. Accordingly, the overall exterior design has also been re-envisioned by illustrator Nidy-2D-. Compared to the previous smaller body, it can incorporate a wealth of detailed sculpting, while also expressing the body's fullness through more varied clothing styles.
Accessories include two pre-painted face parts and one unpainted face part that can be customized with water-slide decals. Newly designed armaments include the crossbow 'Yoichi' and the dagger 'Mumei,' which can be attached to hairpins, shoulder armor, and the crossbow. However, the product does not include mechanical hand or foot parts; these can be recreated by using the included new adapter parts in conjunction with old version limb parts.
Armaments from the old versions of 'Asra Ninja' and 'Asra Archer' can also be equipped via common 3mm connection points, allowing for multiple modes when combined with the new armaments. Furthermore, since it uses the same 'Machineca Block1.5L' body, limb parts can be freely interchanged with the 'Oubun series,' enabling the Asra series to equip various exaggerated large armaments.
