Brazilian statue manufacturer Iron Studios' Demi Art Scale 1/20 statue series recently launched a new product based on the film "Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace" – "Star Wars: Anakin's Podracer." The suggested retail price is US$749.99, with an estimated release in Q1 2024!
In "Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace," Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi needed to acquire a new hyperdrive to repair their damaged starship and to free Anakin Skywalker, a boy with strong Force potential. They made a wager with Watto, a junk dealer from Mos Espa, that Anakin would win the upcoming Boonta Eve Classic podrace.
Podracers are powered by two massive engines at the front, which are electromagnetically locked together and connected to the cockpit by durable control cables. The podrace is a highly dangerous and deadly competition, requiring high-speed navigation through canyons, mountains, caves, and treacherous rocky terrain in the deserts of Tatooine. However, young Anakin, with his astonishing talent, intelligence, and Force potential, defeated numerous opponents to win the championship and successfully earned his freedom.
This product measures approximately 7.1 inches high and 23.4 inches wide, recreating the scene from the film where Anakin pilots his podracer at high speed through the desert. The clever arrangement of the base, the two thrusters, and the cockpit creates a dynamic sense of the podracer's rapid movement. Electromagnetic energy effects between the two thrusters also capture the thrilling instability of the podracer from the film. Inside the cockpit, our young Skywalker can be seen diligently operating this massive vehicle, disproportionate to his size. Both the sculpting and painting are incredibly detailed and stunning!
