Kotobukiya, a Japanese model manufacturer, has once again announced the latest collaboration product in its popular "Megami Device" plastic model kit series, which combines colorful mechanical equipment with highly articulated bishoujo bodies. The new product, "Angel-Type Arnval Trancher 2," is scheduled for release in August 2024.
"Angel-Type Arnval" was the most iconic first character product in the "Busou Shinki" series. When it was released in 2006, its cute design by illustrator Fumikane Shimada, combined with the MMS articulated body produced by sculptor Masaki Apsy, offered an astonishing range of articulation for its time. It also highlighted the ability to customize with abundant weapon parts and link with the online game version of "Busou Shinki" released by KONAMI, bringing the model into the virtual world for use. After its release, it quickly became a sensation, leading to widespread shortages.
This time, the released "Angel-Type Arnval Trancher 2" utilizes the latest technology from the "Megami Device" series to recreate the improved Arnval form released back then. It retains Fumikane Shimada's excellent character design and updates the body to the Machineca body developed by Masaki Apsy specifically for the "Megami Device" series. Significant advancements have been made in part separation, facial expression part printing technology, and articulation range. Naturally, it also preserves the "sports sitting pose" hip joint structure that garnered attention back then.
The kit is based on a modification of the previously released Angel-Type Arnval, adding newly sculpted head parts, the impressively sized RG8 Railgun, three pre-printed facial expression parts, and more. Naturally, the original rifle, beam saber, and large wings are also included. The hairstyle can be swapped between various styles such as long hair, short hair, and ponytail, allowing for a wide range of poses when transforming from unarmed mode to armed mode.
