SUPER7, an American toy manufacturer dedicated to releasing toys based on 80s and 90s pop culture, has announced that its "ULTIMATES!" action figure series will launch a collection inspired by the music video for the classic rap-rock group Beastie Boys' iconic song "Sabotage." Each figure will have a suggested retail price of US$55 and is expected to ship in December 2024!

The Beastie Boys, hailing from Brooklyn and Manhattan, New York, were a rap-rock group formed in 1981 by Adam Horovitz (Ad-Rock), Adam Yauch (MCA), and Michael Diamond (Mike D). They were one of the longest-active hip-hop groups, influencing many hip-hop and other genre artists, and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012.
"Sabotage," released by the Beastie Boys in January 1994, features a noisy blend of punk and hip-hop, showcasing a rebellious attitude. In 2021, it was ranked 245th on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. The music video, directed by Spike Jonze (director of Her), humorously parodies the style of 70s cop dramas like "Hawaii Five-O" and "The Streets of San Francisco," creating a mock TV show opening sequence. The three band members portray different police officer characters, and its distinctive style earned it five nominations at the 1994 MTV Video Music Awards!
SUPER7 previously released "Sabotage"-themed products in their 3.75-inch "ReAction" carded figure series. This time, in the form of 7-inch action figures, they have more meticulously recreated the images of the three band members from the "Sabotage" MV: Ad-Rock as "Vic Colfari as 'The Rookie' Bobby," MCA as "Nathan Wind as Cochese," and Mike D as "Alasondro Alegré as The Chief." The incredibly rich array of accessories, including a walkie-talkie, megaphone, car roof light, a briefcase full of cash, and donuts, allows fans to recreate various scenes of the Beastie Boys running around in the MV at home. Seeing them lined up is truly both mischievous and cool! The window box design, paired with explosive-patterned box art, greatly highlights the 70s cop show style parodied by Spike Jonze, allowing one to feel the enduring charm of this classic MV!
