Among the new product lineup for August 2024 recently unveiled by BANPRESTO, a prize brand under Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company, a set of "World Collectable Figure (WCF)" series figures from "One Piece" has been revealed! It's a moving design based on the Straw Hat Pirates' farewell to "Vivi" at the end of the "Alabasta Arc"!
"WCF (World Collectable Figure)" reinterprets numerous anime and manga characters in a Q-version (chibi) proportion, primarily focusing on recreating character designs from the series at a height of approximately 7 cm. Besides their small size and ease of collection, their biggest selling point is the ability to commercialize many niche but popular characters/designs. This WCF set is based on the scene at the end of Volume 23 of the manga, where Princess Vivi chooses to stay in Alabasta and asks the Straw Hat Pirates, "....If we ever meet again someday... will you still call me a comrade?" As this communication had already been noticed by the Navy, the Straw Hat Pirates, unable to communicate verbally, could only respond with this "X" mark: This is the mark of our comrades!
This work includes all members of the Straw Hat Pirates at that time: Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp, Sanji, and Chopper. Not only does it faithfully reproduce their costumes from the Alabasta Arc, but it also brings to life their frontal expressions, which were not visible in the manga volume at the time. Whether it's their tear-filled happy smiles or their reluctant farewell expressions, they evoke the emotion felt years ago when reading the manga!
