American toy giant Mattel unveiled several Masters of the Universe themed products yesterday (26th) US time. Following the "Masters of the Universe: Origins Prince Adam and Cringer," we are now introducing multiple items from the same 5.5-inch action figure "Origins" "Cartoon Collection" series. Each figure has a suggested retail price of US$17.99 and is expected to be released in June-July 2024!

The animated series "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" and its spin-off "She-Ra: Princess of Power," produced by Mattel Toys in collaboration with Filmation animation studio, were created in the 80s primarily to boost toy sales. Most characters first appeared as toy products before making their debut in the animation. Due to animation techniques and other factors, character designs or color schemes might have been slightly altered during drawing, leading to differences between some characters' animated appearances and their physical toys. The "Cartoon Collection" series aims to faithfully recreate the characters' appearances from the original animated series, allowing collectors to relive the excitement of watching the cartoons back then!
This time, four characters are available for online pre-order, alongside those launched last month: "Mer-Man," the sorceress "Evil-Lyn," "Webstor," and "Stratos." Their cartoon-accurate designs and color schemes have been faithfully recreated. For instance, Webstor's face has a more child-friendly look, and Mer-Man's color has changed from the original toy's green to the cartoon's blue. The designs of all characters have also removed some of the original rough texture elements, presenting a smooth plastic finish that mimics the flat, cel-shaded visual effect seen in the original cartoons, just as they appeared on screen!
