On May 1, 2024, in addition to celebrating the 25th anniversary of the LEGO Star Wars product line with the "75383 Darth Maul's Sith Infiltrator," Danish LEGO toy company also released set number 75378, from The Mandalorian series, the "BARC Speeder Escape" (tentative title)!
In The Mandalorian Season 3, through Grogu's memories, we glimpsed more fragments of Order 66's execution and how Grogu managed to escape. At that time, Jedi Master Kelleran Beq fled with Grogu, and after commandeering a 501st Legion Clone Trooper's two-seater BARC Speeder, an exciting speeder chase unfolded on Coruscant. This LEGO set precisely recreates this scene, using around two hundred pieces to build a minifigure-scale BARC Speeder, and includes minifigures of Grogu, Kelleran Beq wielding one blue and one green lightsaber, and two 501st Legion Clone Troopers.
Compared to the series' design, this LEGO rendition of the BARC Speeder, in my personal opinion, has slightly simplified the overall curved lines and intricate mechanical structures. However, the overall appearance, paired with the minifigures, is still quite good. The front also features two stud shooters, and Grogu and his hoverpram can be easily picked up, allowing for various aerial scenes using LEGO's recently released transparent stand elements.
It's worth noting that Ahmed Best, the actor for Kelleran Beq, also portrayed the classic character "Jar Jar Binks" in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. At this opportune moment, coinciding with The Phantom Menace's 25th anniversary, having Kelleran Beq immortalized as a LEGO Star Wars minifigure is quite interesting.
