Sentinel Co., Ltd. of Japan, under its "Fighting Armor" (ファイティングアーマー) action figure series, which reinterprets various Marvel heroes with armored designs, has announced the release of a new product: the "Captain America (Sam Wilson Ver.)" action figure. The suggested retail price is 14,850 JPY, and it is scheduled for release in July 2024!
The character featured in this "Fighting Armor" series release is Captain America's successor, Sam Wilson. Sam was originally better known by his hero identity, Falcon, and is the first African-American superhero in Marvel Comics. In issue #25 of "Captain America Vol. 7," released in 2014, the original Captain America, Steve Rogers, was injured in a battle with Iron Nail, and the Super-Soldier Serum in his body was neutralized, causing him to rapidly age to a true 90 years old. He then appointed Falcon as the official replacement for Captain America.
This "Fighting Armor Captain America (Sam Wilson Ver.)" action figure stands approximately 16.5 cm tall, reinterpreting Sam's version of Captain America with an Iron Man-like mechanical armor. The overall design retains Captain America's iconic red, white, and blue American flag color scheme, with a pearlescent paint finish that gives it a metallic texture. The part of his original design that exposed his hair has been cleverly transformed into a black metallic helmet. The wings appear more rigid and mechanical than the original design, complementing the metallic armor on his body.
