Within the 'ZOIDS 40TH ANNIVERSARY PROJECT,' a 40th-anniversary commemorative project for the popular 'ZOIDS' series from Japanese toy company TAKARA TOMY, the 'AZ SERIES,' which re-creates classic Zoids using modern technology, has announced its latest product, the 'AZ-05 Saber Tiger,' slated for release in late July 2024.
The 'Red Storm' Saber Tiger is a Zoid utilized by the Guylos Empire during the Second Continental War, serving as a counter to the Helic Republic's 'Blue Gale' Shield Liger. This unit is based on an older Saber Tiger model used during the Zenebas Empire era, with improved power systems and cooling devices, achieving a top speed of 240km/h. It is capable of high-speed combat, utilizing its claws and various artillery armaments. In the first anime series, it was the Zoid used by Raven, the rival who confronted the protagonist Van Flyheight, who piloted the Shield Liger.
The 'AZ-05 Saber Tiger' reproduces the body colors of Raven's dedicated unit from the anime, based on the MPZ-02 version released in 2016. It meticulously details the internal skeletal structure, various pipelines, and armaments with high-density precision. It comes equipped with armaments such as the rear "AEZ20mm Beam Gun," "Composite Sensor Unit," tail "TEZ20mm Linear Laser Gun," and abdomen "Infrared Laser Emitter" and "Small-Caliber Anti-Zoid Laser Machine Gun." Combined with partially pre-painted parts and body marking stickers, it achieves an even more realistic appearance.
Not only is its physical form closer to that of an actual tiger, but when it walks using its internal motor-driven power system, its walking posture also more closely resembles a real feline, with all parts from head to tail articulating in conjunction with its movement. Furthermore, the twin eyes on its head, representing the cockpit, and the Zoid Core in its abdomen will both light up upon power activation, creating a more lifelike performance.
