BANDAI SPIRITS' TAMASHII NATIONS, the collectibles division behind the S.H.Figuarts action figure brand, which features the film and TV-themed CineToy TAMASHII series, has officially unveiled images and release information for their new "Star Wars: The Phantom Menace" Jar Jar Binks action figure. Priced at 11,000 JPY, the figure is slated for an October 2024 release.
Earlier this year on April Fool's Day, TAMASHII NATIONS announced via their official social media channels that Jar Jar Binks would be receiving a product release to commemorate the 25th anniversary of "Star Wars: The Phantom Menace." Given the sensitive timing and Jar Jar Binks' polarizing status as a comedic relief character among fans, many initially dismissed the announcement as an April Fool's joke. However, the subsequent confirmation of the news by the official channels left many fans both surprised and delighted. Meanwhile, a vocal segment of international fans eagerly awaiting an S.H.Figuarts Toji Fushiguro from "Jujutsu Kaisen" found themselves in a bittersweet situation, jokingly lamenting that Jar Jar arrived before their anticipated character.
The S.H.Figuarts Jar Jar Binks stands approximately 16 cm tall. It is meticulously sculpted to recreate his appearance on Naboo from "Star Wars: The Phantom Menace." The figure faithfully captures Jar Jar's gangly yet somewhat clumsy physique, with intricate paintwork that replicates the reddish-tan gradient of his skin. Accessories include two pairs of interchangeable hands, an alternate head sculpt, and two interchangeable lower jaw parts, allowing for poses of Jar Jar sticking out his tongue or or eating a frog. This Jar Jar Binks figure can also be displayed alongside previously released S.H.Figuarts Qui-Gon Jinn and Jedi Apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi to recreate iconic scenes on Naboo from the film!
