Hasbro, the renowned American toy brand, announced the release of new "Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace" themed products under its Star Wars The Black Series line during a livestream on Star Wars Day last week (May 3rd). This includes the "Qui-Gon Jinn / Darth Maul / Obi-Wan Kenobi" 6-inch action figure set, with a suggested retail price of US$69.99. It is currently available for pre-order on the Hasbro Pulse Taiwan official website and is expected to be released in November 2024!
The prequel film "Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace" is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. This newly released set is themed around the classic duel at the end of the film, where Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi jointly confront Darth Maul, the apprentice of the Sith Lord, in the Theed Royal Palace. Initially, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan had the upper hand in the duel, but due to the laser barriers, Obi-Wan was unable to catch up to Qui-Gon, who was dueling Darth Maul alone. Furthermore, due to the confined space, Qui-Gon was unfortunately impaled and defeated. Later, an enraged Obi-Wan bisected the leaping Darth Maul, finally defeating the powerful Sith warrior.
This action figure set faithfully recreates the appearances of the three characters from the film, reproducing the facial features of actors Liam Neeson, Ray Park, and Ewan McGregor in the 6-inch scale. Each character also includes the long-awaited Jedi and Sith Master robes, adding significant texture and detail to the figures! Darth Maul's lightsaber is designed to separate into two, consistent with its in-universe depiction, and Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan are equipped with their green and blue lightsabers, respectively. Posing all three characters together allows fans to recreate that spectacular "Duel of the Fates" in the Theed Royal Palace!
