Japanese toy company KAIYODO has unveiled its latest products from "Kaiju No. 8": 1/18 scale pre-painted figures of "Mina Ashiro" and "Kikoru Shinomiya"! The suggested retail price is 6,600 JPY each, with an estimated release in January 2025.
The manga series "Kaiju No. 8," created by manga artist Naoya Matsumoto, began serialization in July 2020 on Shueisha's online manga platform Shonen Jump+. It achieved an astonishing total of over 30 million views within three months and 100 million views within a year, setting a platform record! The story is set in Japan, a country frequently invaded by kaiju. The protagonist, Kafka Hibino, who dreamed of joining the Defense Force and eradicating all kaiju since childhood, gave up on his dream after repeatedly failing the entrance exams and instead took on the job of disposing of kaiju corpses. However, in an accident, Kafka is infected by a mysterious creature, causing his body to mutate into the "Kaiju No. 8," a being that must be exterminated...
KAIYODO's early reveal of the "Mina Ashiro" and "Kikoru Shinomiya" 1/18 scale pre-painted figures recreates dynamic scenes in a palm-sized form. Sculpted by KAIYODO's prototype artist Taro Murai, the figures exquisitely capture Mina's flowing black hair, her cool combat suit, and the intricate details of her massive armed heavy sniper rifle, along with the reliable "Vahko" fighting alongside her!
Kikoru Shinomiya's striking golden twin-tails dynamically sweep upwards, her Defense Force combat uniform is meticulously detailed, and her slender physique creates a strong contrast with the massive axe in her hands! Standing atop a kaiju, combined with smoke effect parts, the figure conveys the intensity of her fierce battle against the kaiju!
