Hong Kong toy manufacturer threezero's "FigZero" 1/6 scale action figure series, which features characters from American and Japanese anime, manga, and tokusatsu, has not only released the "Supreme Cobra Commander" but also another limited-edition G.I. JOE-themed new product: the "Profit Director Destro" 1/6 scale action figure. With a suggested retail price of US$159.99, it is currently available for exclusive sale on the renowned US toy website BBTS (Big Bad Toy Store) and is expected to ship in July 2024!
The "G.I. JOE" toy series originated in 1964 as a line of soldier dolls released by American toy manufacturer Hasbro for boys, named after the 1945 film "The Story of G.I. Joe." To prevent boys from finding the term "doll" too feminine, Hasbro coined a new term for these boy-oriented dolls upon their release: "Action Figure," which remains the generic term for all articulated humanoid toys today. The "G.I. JOE" that toy enthusiasts are more familiar with is Hasbro's re-marketed 3.75-inch action figure series "A Real American Hero," launched in 1982. This series reimagined "G.I. JOE" as a special forces unit battling the evil Cobra organization, heavily promoted through comics and television animation, and released hundreds of action figures, making it one of the most successful series in toy history!
Destro, in the series, is a powerful and evil arms dealer within the Cobra organization, possessing immense intelligence and leadership skills, profiting by instigating wars. This "Profit Director Destro" figure stands approximately 31 cm tall and features a "tycoon" style outfit designed to showcase the vast wealth he accumulated from the arms trade. His iconic metallic mask is rendered in gold, and his attire includes a copper-colored leather-textured suit complemented by a newly designed fabric leopard print cape. Paired with accessories such as sunglasses, a golden money case, and stacks of cash inside, the entire presentation exudes an incredibly extravagant and luxurious aura!
