The 1/144 scale Gunpla 'HG (High Grade)' series, known for its diverse range of mobile suits and produced by Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Hobby Division, today officially unveiled the full details of its latest product from the theatrical anime film "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM": the "HG 1/144 Destiny Gundam Spec II & Zeus Silhouette". It is scheduled for release in November 2024.
The A-GXQ754/V2 Zeus Silhouette is an armament utilized by the World Peace Monitoring Organization "COMPASS," equipped in the film by both the Akatsuki Gundam and later the Destiny Gundam Spec II. In its standalone form, it flies as if a bird for transport. Upon rendezvous with its equipped mobile suit, it separates into various enhancement parts that attach to different sections of the MS body. Large thrusters are added to the rear waist and both legs, while sensors and missile pods are mounted on the back. Its primary weapon is an immensely powerful super-large railgun, exceeding the MS's total length. To prevent the cannon barrel from becoming unusable if damaged, three spare barrels are carried during sortie.
The "HG 1/144 Destiny Gundam Spec II & Zeus Silhouette" is based on the version released in 2019, with modifications. The Destiny Gundam main body features new molding colors to reproduce the deep hues of its enhanced VPS Armor performance. It boasts a refined, stylish design and excellent articulation. With flexible shoulder, torso, and hip joint designs, combined with armaments such as the beam rifle, shield, beam boomerang, "Arondight" beam sword, and high-energy long-range beam cannon, as well as luxurious effect parts like the palm-mounted cannon, beam shield, and Wings of Light, you can recreate the impressive battle poses from the film.
The Zeus Silhouette, on the other hand, is entirely constructed with new parts. It can be assembled independently into a Mobile Armor (MA) form, measuring over 50 cm in length, for standalone display. It can also combine with the Destiny Gundam Spec II using dedicated parts. The missile pod hatches on the back and legs feature deployment mechanisms, and internal warhead details can be reproduced by swapping parts. Equipping the super-large railgun allows for the recreation of the powerful firing scenes from the theatrical film.
