BANDAI SPIRITS HOBBY Division in Japan has announced the latest product from the new anime series Mashin Souseiden, the "Fūjinmaru" model kit, slated for release in December 2024.
Mashin Souseiden is a completely new series that inherits the essence and some settings of Mashin Hero Wataru, passing the legacy to the next generation. The protagonist, Hoshibe Wataru, is a fourth-grade elementary school video creator who dreams of becoming a superstar. One day, he is summoned to the alternate world of "Zebukai" to become its savior. In this block-filled alternate world, reminiscent of a sandbox game, Wataru can use blocks to create various objects, including the Mashin "Ryūjinmaru," which houses a dragon soul. They embark on a journey to defeat the final boss, fighting alongside companions such as the swordsman Mifurain and popular VTuber MARO.
Fūjinmaru is the Mashin used by the new swordsman character, Mifurain, whose image corresponds to Shibaraku from the previous series. The model kit features a tool-free design, allowing parts to be detached from the runners by hand without the need for nippers. The kit's original molded colors of gold, white, green, and gray largely reproduce its appearance from the show. The circular ring on its back is made with clear blue parts, and its distinctive dual katanas can be stored in their sheaths.
This Mashin Souseiden series of model kits utilizes a common movable frame structure. This allows for an excellent range of articulation despite their 3-4 head-tall proportions, enabling the recreation of in-show battle scenes and special moves. Furthermore, with standardized pegs and joints, parts such as the head, body, limbs, and armor can be freely interchanged, allowing for mixing and matching parts from the Mashin Souseiden series to create unique Mashin.
